Summary

An excellent set by Philips from 2003. A rare sight to see is a 25" tube with s-video and component inputs, making this set particularly special. The tube itself is a standard one made by Samsung, and it can be found in some arcade chassis of the early 2000's.

Notes

Supports 50hz in color over component, likely a carry-over feature as its essentially a stripped-down chassis from Europe. It can even sync to oddball "in-between" frequencies with ease. Very handy!

Strangely, sharpening adjustment is disabled over component input. The sharpness looks more or less where it needs to be, so no complaints there.

Reds and blues are pushed, so I recommend turning down the color saturation in the standard menu, and tweak further with a white balance in the service menu.

Personal recommendation: A screen of this size with the rounded corners is ideal for displaying late 80's and early 90's arcade games for an authentic-feeling experience. Fire up a MISTer or Rasberry Pi in 240p and enjoy some Mortal Kombat in its original 400x254p resolution at 54hz! (It should sync up, at least.)
