Summary

Among the highest rated monitors in its size class, the P77 was manufactured by Sony and features a 17" flat Trinitron tube. It is based on the CPD-G220. Differences from the original Sony model include an IBM-style case design, redesigned control panel, and a single VGA input. It is capable of very high scan rates for a 17" monitor (up to 94 kHz), and will display 1600x1200 at 75 Hz.

Notes

This monitor includes digital convergence controls, accessible through the OSD menu.

Sony's original G220 monitor had a very different form factor than the P77. This is reflected in the internal design, as the metal shielding is much smaller than the outer shell.

Unlike many 19" and 21" Sony PC monitors from this time period, this model has a manual G2 adjustment pot and doesn't suffer from excessive brightness like its larger siblings. However, color balance has usually drifted over time. Calibration using WinDAS will noticeably improve image quality.
